MYTH OF THE MERMAID

Since the past, the cliffs of Liguria have been the scene of ancient legends dating back to an early era of humanity, when the forces of nature were still perceived as spirits with a will of their own. And it is also in Liguria, in the Bay of Silence in Sestri Levante that Hans Christian Andersen learned of a local legend, of the forbidden love of the mermaid Segesta and the triton Tigullio, and drew inspiration to write the Little Mermaid, his most famous book.
