Spring is also the time when vintage car enthusiasts get back to shining their jewels and prepare to face the most prestigious competitions. In fact, the most important historic races are concentrated in the next three months.
Waiting for the “queen” of competitions, namely the Mille Miglia (June 17 to 21), vintage cars owners and their crews can warm up their engines by taking part in less famous but equally refined races.
ITALY OF VINTAGE CARS: FRANCIACORTA, TUSCANY, CINQUE TERRE
Franciacorta Historic 2025, one of the most anticipated events dedicated to vintage cars, will be held on April 4 and 5. All cars built up to 1976 are admitted to the event, in addition to a maximum of 15 cars produced from 1977 to 1992, the latter in a special off-classification list. This fascinating event, now in its 18th edition, offers a route that winds through the spectacular views of the Franciacorta hills. Particular attention, as always, will be given to the sporting part, always much appreciated by all participants, combined with first-class hospitality.
Going further south, it will be held in Tuscany from May 8 to 11, the Terre di Canossa Rally. Here, all the essence of the Bel Paese will be concentrated among iconic vintage cars and unrepeatable emotions.
Along the thousand-year-old roads of the Countess Matilde, Queen of Italy in the 12th century, the driving experience will touch Forte dei Marmi and the splendid sea of Versilia, the Cinque Terre, the Apuan Alps, the wonderful city of Lucca and the enchanting Pisa.
An event of great value, capable of satisfying the expectations of the best drivers and the most demanding gourmands. The exhibition will involve historic cars built up to 2000 and modern cars produced since 2001.
“CONCORSO D’ELEGANZA” VILLA D'ESTE, LAKE COMO
From May 23 to 25 it will be time for the “Concorso d’Eleganza” (Elegance Contest) Villa d’Este, on Lake Como.
An unmissable event for the international jet set and a unique setting in which to admire unrivalled vintage cars.
This year the Selection Committee has shown particular originality in defining the categories in the competition.
- Frozen in Time: cars built between 1900 and 1973, which have reached us in original condition;
- Go Big or Go Home: the automotive excesses of the 1980s and 1990s, when nothing was fast, expensive and daring enough;
- Sculpture in Motion: works of art on four wheels built during the decade 1928-1938;
- Glorious Excess: classic cars from the period 1920-1940, when the sector evolved “without regard to expense”.
