Thanks to its Festival, Venice confirms itself as one of the capitals of high-quality international cinema. This year more than ever, a parade of stars has lit up the lagoon with cinema magic.
Among the unforgettable moments of the 81st edition of the Venice International Film Festival, the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement given to Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Ghostbusters, Gorillas in the Mist, Avatar, The Master Gardener) and Peter Weir, Australian director and screenwriter (The Dead Poets Society, The Truman Show, Master & Commander).
The Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker award went to Claude Lelouch (Un homme et une femme, La Bonne Année, La belle histoire).
Glittering parties and events enlivened Venice during the days of the Film Festival.
Like the one that traditionally kicks off the event: the “Variety” party on the terrace of the Hotel Danieli. And also the Armani party held at the Arsenale, one of the most evocative locations in Venice.
The fifteenth edition of the DVF Awards, the award established by The Diller-von Fürstenberg Family Foundation to support women, took place at the sixteenth-century Tese, with the participation of, among others, Oprah Winfrey.

But let’s get to the films, the real protagonists of the festival. Among the most anticipated, Maria, the new work by Pablo Larraín, in which Angelina Jolie plays the legendary Maria Callas.

Hollywood's golden couple, George Clooney and Brad Pitt, made their mark with the premiere of Wolves. Among the most magical moments, the premiere of Joker: Folie à Deux. The protagonists Joaquim Phoenix and Lady Gaga received an 11-minute standing ovation at the end of the screening.
But in the end, during the closing ceremony of September 8, the real triumph was that of The Room Next Door by Pedro Almodóvar, which was thus awarded the Golden Lion. The protagonists of the film, which focuses on the delicate topic of euthanasia, are Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore.
VENICE HOSTS THE MARCELLO MASTROIANNI-THEMED EXHIBITION

One hundred years and over one hundred times Mastroianni", created in the year of the centenary of Marcello Mastroianni’s birth. Inaugurated on August 31, it will remain open until January 9,2025.
The exhibition can be admired on the island of San Servolo, in the new and evocative headquarters of the CSC - Immersive & Performing Arts, the first center dedicated to immersive and performing arts in Italy.
