When the most famous club in the world calls, sailing fans respond. The YCCS Members Championship is the unmissable regatta for the true "locals" and regulars of Porto Cervo, members of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.
The “home” event saw 5 teams made up of members of this historic and prestigious club, founded on May 12, 1967 by a handful of visionary pioneers, including Prince Aga Khan, compete in the first weekend of August. The championship was won by Klaus Otto Kunnemeyer's Ashanti team.
Costa Smeralda has been one of the most famous and sought after destinations by the international elite for over 50 years.
The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda has undoubtedly made a fundamental contribution to the success of the area, establishing itself as a sailing center of absolute excellence. Among the most anticipated and exciting competitions is the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, which will take place in Porto Cervo in September, from 8 to 14, organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda with the collaboration of the International Maxi Association (IMA) and the support of the historic Rolex partner.
The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, which reaches its 34th edition this year, is the international reference event for maxi yachts, boats with a high technological, but also historical and design profile. They will be led by world-famous professional sailors.
COSTA SMERALDA FOSTERS BLUE ECONOMY
In addition to sporting activities, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda also promotes the activities of the YCCS Sailing School and the One Ocean Foundation.
This latest project, conceived in 2017 on the occasion of the club's fiftieth anniversary and officially born in 2018, focuses on environmental sustainability. The Foundation’s mission is in fact to accelerate solutions to ocean problems, inspiring international leaders, companies, institutions and individuals. The goal is to promote a sustainable blue economy and improve knowledge of the oceans, through ocean literacy.
